I don't think the BMS not being reset would cause that message. When I didn't reset mine it never shut it down like this or Ford Connect, just auto stop/start was never enabled. Periodic "battery saver" message on start up. After buying a used 2016 MKC last summer the vehicle is giving a system shutdown to save battery before startup. I think this issue is due to just a few short 10 minute trips over the last month due to the stay home covid19 virus. Of interest is that even with a design life of 10-12 years their dual high CCA & CRA battery has no warranty if installed in a vehicle with fuel injection or a computer which operates after turn off. Also if battery ever sees 10.5volts without being put on charger to 100% warranty can be denied due to abuse.
B. If no key fob is available you can disconnect the battery again, turn the ignition key to the on position and reconnect the battery.
