The coolant temperature sensor is on the back of the engine below the left branch of the connector. There is an elbow attached to the engine that curves up. The temp sensor fits in the top of the elbow and is held in place with a C-clip. The electrical connector plugs in to the top of the sensor. I was able to get the electrical connector off
So I have tried to find the location of the coolant temp sensor however I can find nothing, Not even in the Haynes manual. It dose mention the othet engine sensor but I dont want this one. top up coolant and see if it goes down half way seems to be right on the gauge. Posted January 22, 2016. Ok well it sounds like it's not overheating and not the previous fault returned. There shouldn't be any leaks under the tank though. Just a relief valve in the cap, sounds like there may be a crack in the tank itself.

It seems like the pcm is cutting back the alternator output voltage too soon. Check that the engine temperature gauge works ok, the coolant temperature sensor is one part of the system used by the pcm to control alternator voltage. My car system seems to maintain a little over 14v almost all the time while running.
